The tree at the gallery showing

I love how vivid the colors are in this picture! 23x23x18 $285.00

I was lucky enough to have many relatives who came to the opening and gave me great pictures of items in the opening!
Hopefully there will be more to come. The show has had great reviews and I am trying to get permission to post them here. Thank you for everyone who has gone to the show and if you can’t get to the show before it closes you can get an idea of what it is like at the on line gallery .

My mom(Connie Will) waiting for the the food to arrive before the show reception.

Mother & Daughter Show

Pastel,"Boat on the Lake" used for the front of the Gallery Post Card.

Back of the gallery post card with all the info about the show.

The post cards I designed  came in yesterday and they turned out awesome, except for my own mistake on the back. I squished the time for our gallery reception-but it just means a pen and some busy work to correct the error.
The company I used: printsmadeeasy.com was cheap and easy to use. I did most of the work in Gimp first and then uploaded it to the site. The only difficulty was making sure I was using the fonts that they use on their site to eliminate problems with printing.

The cost for 500 double sided color postcards was under $80 with postage! The postcards are being used as a take away advertizing item at the Library where the show is being held.  I will also have a poster in a free standing holder along with the postcards to have on the main check out desk of the library.

I am in the process of adding more of my mother’s work to the exhibition gallery for everyone to see!

Gearing up for the show!

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

We have sheep and I can see them relaxing at the beach ,sunglasses and all.

After Christmas I went down to Connecticut to take photos of my mom’s art and my quilts that she has in her possession. We talked about the theme of the show and my mom wanted me to deal with the advertising, press release and organizing the set up of the show in the library gallery and display case.
My mom said she would arrange for the reception (food, flowers, etc.) and she will pay for the cost of postcards and postage.
I have been working on the press release and have been finishing up on the postcards and advertizing poster that are needed for the library to let people know what is being shown in the gallery at least 2 months in advance.

I am lucky to have two word smiths to look at my work before I release it to the public. One is a family friend who has 30+ years in Hospital Public Relations and fund raising and the other is my older brother who is a writer (books, newspaper, public television, radio and local theater) in Wisconsin and  has quite a way with words!  I will be posting pictures in my gallery with some of my mother’s work and once the show has been hung I will doing a video or a slide show with narration of the works in the show!

It is very exciting!
