A couple of weeks ago my 8″x8″ quilt called”thanks Kathi” came back from SAQA(Studio Art Quilt Associates) where it had been traveling in the 20th anniversary trunk show. Here is the description from the SAQA website.
Meet SAQA’S Artists: SAQA’S 20th Anniversary Trunk Show
As part of the celebration of SAQA’s 20th anniversary year, SAQA created and organized the SAQA Trunk Show. 183 SAQA members responded to a call for small works which would represent their artistic voices. Each 8″-square art quilt was matted with archival mat board.
So now it needs to be framed for the show in CT. I went to the framer in downtown Concord,NH-Rowland Studios and the staff is excellent at getting the just the right mat and frame. Although this piece is a wee bit busy, the colors required a strong colored frame. The finished piece will be bigger than 12×12 but it will awesome. The cost was over $100 but this frame will last a lifetime and I think just like a good border or binding the frame has made this quilt better than it was before. The piece now looks complete!
On Tuesday March 1st another show will be on display at the Easton Library and it will be from the Fiber Hearts group of Easton, The show is called” Bags,etc.”. I think going to the show will be helpful to get an idea of how other quilters display their art.
I am looking forward to getting the show up and running!
